bolt thrower - war master/the ivth crusade/...for victory

Bolt Thrower play mid-tempo death metal songs. All of their songs "sound the same". All of their songs are about war in one way or the other (in fact, they are sponsored by Warhammer 40,000. What could be more un-hip?) Their vocals are pretty standard cookie monster-ish growling. They're not the loudest (although, to be fair, they're not far off), nor the most technically accomplished, nor the most original death metal band around. Still, Bolt Thrower manages to be the greatest death metal band ever. I don't know how really. Perhaps it's because all they seem to care about it making the most rocking music they possibly can. Not only that, they also seem to be the quintessential (apologies for using this awful word) "metal for people who don't like metal" (apologies for using this awful phrase) band. If you were raised to believe that death metal is stupid, download For Victory. If you somehow fail to like that album, you will simply never be able to enjoy this amazing band.
