Read More Katie Couric Speaks: ‘I Have Decided To Step Down From The ‘CBS Evening News”

After weeks of speculation, Katie Couric has officially announced she is stepping down as anchor of the ‘CBS Evening News’ — but where will she go next?

The reports have been swirling for awhile now and Katie Couric has finally spoken out and admitted she’s leaving the CBS Evening News.
“I have decided to step down from the CBS Evening News,” the 54-year-old TV personality told People April 26. “I’m really proud of the talented team on the CBS Evening News and the award-winning work we’ve been able to do in the past five years in addition to the reporting I’ve done for 60 Minutes and CBS Sunday Morning. In making the decision to move on, I know the Evening News will be in great hands, but I am excited about the future.”
As for her exciting future, Katie plans to stay on the small screen, but in a slightly less regimented capacity.
“I am looking at a format that will allow me to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling,” she said. “The bottom line is that I love doing all kinds of different stories…I have a lot of areas of interest and I want to be able to fulfill all of that.”
Katie is a staple in American households, so we’re glad she’s not planning on retiring for good and look forward to watching her new project when the time comes!
