Use a good cleanser
Cover up with foundation
If there are only a few blackheads on your face, good liquid foundation can come to the rescue. Use it as a base for your oil-free makeup, and apply it evenly on your skin. Then apply your favourite blush, and no one will be able to tell the difference. Do not use a powder-based foundation, as it's not only ineffective in hiding blackheads well, but it won't last for long. Also once you're back home, remember to wash your face well with a good face wash.
Take in steam
Do this when you wake up in the morning. Add two to three drops of lavender or lemon grass oil to boiling water. Cover your head with a towel and steam your face for about five to 10 minutes. Later, cleanse with a good face wash. Repeat this once more in the afternoon. Your face will be party-ready!
Get a clean-up done
If the problem is severe, make an appointment with your salon right away and ask for a clean-up. Inform your beautician you are heading for a party later. She will get rid of all prominent blackheads without leaving any blemishes. If you have sensitive skin, get a clean-up done at least 24 hours before the party, as the redness will take a while to settle.
Never pop blackheads
The minute you see blackheads on your face, your first instinct is to pop them with your fingers. But that's the last thing you should do, as this will not only leave scars, but it will also cause infection. Also, when you pop them, the oils from your fingers will get onto your face, thus clogging your pores and causing acne. The best thing to do? Simply use a good cleanser or scrub up to two times a day.
