10 Inexpensive Beauty Secrets Everyone Should Know

I have been a collector of beauty secrets since I was about 12 years old. I started watching my Grandmother and my Mother at a young age and paid attention to them in their quest for maintaining a youthful and vibrant appearance. One thing that has stood out for me over the course of my life is the fact that beauty doesn't necessarily mean expensive. Yes, there are lots of creams and gels and concoctions that cost an "arm and a leg" and they probably work. But, I have listed 10 beauty secrets that I used on a regular basis that have stood the test of time and been proven to work. I am happy to share with you these inexpensive beauty secrets, to which you may just have some or all of these ingredients already at home! Stay beautiful!

1. Makeup Remover- OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is not only the best makeup remover on the planet, it also stimulates eyelash growth. I know this because I have been using Olive Oil since I was a teenager and I used to use alot of false eyelashes. If you have ever used false eyelashes then you would know that sometimes the glue pulls off your natural lashes when you remove them. By using Olive Oil as a makeup remover not only does it gently remove the makeup but it always stimulated my eyelashes to grow longer and faster. I swear by this natural beauty secret!
2. Natural Astringent- BOJENMI TEA

It probably sounds funny for me to say that tea (Bojenmi tea) would work as an astringent but it does. But only this specific type of tea. Bojenmi tea is a blend of white tea and other natural herbs that is a chinese tea recipe that dates back hundreds of years. It was first noticed to eliminate or breakdown oils and grease when the Chinese also used the tea to wipe down oily surfaces in their restaurants. Its gently yet effective way of ridding the oil off of your face also tightens the skin within seconds of using it. The word "Bojenmi" means "Slim and Beautiful". I not only use this on my skin but also drink it regularly. It also aids in weight loss by cleansing the body.

Directions:

Steep a bag of Bojenmi in a cup of hot water for about a minute. Remove tea bag and squeeze excess water from it. Wipe soaked tea bag around face (keep out of eyes).
3. Natural Skin Exfoliater- Lime & Sugar

Mexican women have been using this one forever! Just squeeze some limes in a bowl and some granulated sugar. Mix into a paste and scrub your hands in it. After you have exfoliated your skin to your liking just wash your hands with warm soap and water, making sure to wash all the lime juice off. (Do not do this if you have cuts on your hands because it will sting).
4. Teeth Whitener- Baking Soda & Hydrogen Peroxide

Like the lime and sugar exfoliate you can make a paste of the baking soda and the hydrogen peroxide and scrub your teeth with it. Its a natural way to cleanse the mouth and whiten your teeth too. I always brush my teeth first with ProNamel toothpaste and then I use the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. (As always be careful not to swallow any of it).
5. Pimple Remover- Toothpaste

A neat trick I have been using since junior high! If you find a zit on your face unexpectedly just rub a dab of white toothpaste on the pimple before you go to bed. By morning it will be all dried up. Works every time!
6. Stop Bikini Line Razor Burn- Baby Powder

If you are one to wax your bikini line by yourself you should always pat baby powder over the entire bikini area ahead of time at least 5-10 minutes beforehand to prevent any of those unwanted bikini bumps (razor burn).
7. Skin Softener- Honey

Cleopatra made milk and honey baths famous but in actuality it works. Honey is a natural moisturizing agent as well as antimicrobial. Just a 1/2 cup of honey in your warm bath water will not only give you a sweet smelling bath but also moisturize your skin.
8. Soften Hair- Baby Shampoo

If you want soft, manageable hair the key is to ask yourself " When was the last time I had soft hair?"

The answer is: when you were a kid. Baby Shampoo is the most gentle shampoo and it really softens your hair. I use it, it works.
9. Condition Your Hair- Yogurt

If you want a natural deep conditioner just look in your refrigerator. 1 cup of Plain Yogurt, 1 Tablespoon of Vegetable Oil and a few drops of vanilla or coconut extract mixed together will not only deeply condition your hair but leave it smelling wonderful! (leave in at least 15- 30 minutes for a deep conditioning).

10. Key To Shiny Hair- Beer

And last but not least, the key to the shiny hair you see the models on T.V. have.  BEER!! Yes, I have been using this since I was about 15 and it was key when I used to model. One tall can of beer, once a week was all I needed to get unbelievable shine. My beer of choice? Guinness. Imported beer works best, although I would say if you have to use American Beer, go with Budweiser. But my overall choice would be Guinness.  Just pour it in your hair until saturated and wrap in a towel for about 15-20 minutes before you take a shower. Do this once a week for incredible shine!
