Orange Blossom Flyover - Fast Reverse EP

ORANGE BLOSSOM FLYOVER
Fast Reverse EP
2010
self-released
[indie rock, shoegaze, experimental]

MF (37 MB)

I don't know much about this project, but I know the guy responsible is called Ryan Scally, and if I'm not mistaken this is his very first release as Orange Blossom Flyover. If you like Band Of Susans, this is probably for you. This short little four-track EP should make it obvious to most that Mr. Scally possessed a lot of talent, even though I'm personally not completely sold on stuff like 'Someone Like You'. He also cuts the first track 'Hearsay In Paradox Lust' way too short for some odd reason, but perhaps that's exactly what he wants with this release, leaving you wanting more. Personally I think the most convincing thing on here is 'Vicarious Room Of Gold', which is actually really strong. Scally closes out the EP with 'So By Your Spells', a seven-minute "play-it-backwards" track that unfortunately does not improve on what The Stone Roses already did 22 years ago. Still, despite its "flaws" (I'm not sure if one should be able to use such a concept in art), it seems obvious to me that this guy is bound to strike gold on his next release(s).
