Four hours of music from Finland's very own Pan Sonic, the sprawling Kesto (234.48:4) is arguably the duo's masterpiece. Odd then, perhaps, that it ever remains out of print. (You can, however, get yourself a new copy for a mere $183.71 on Amazon. Bargain!). Here Pan Sonic visit just about every corner of their sound imaginable, from the relatively short bursts of ultra-harsh rave techno that make up the first disc, to the more familiar IDM/techno material of disc two (think previous efforts like Kulma and Aaltopiiri), to the longer, more quiet sine-based pieces on disc three (Sachiko M comes to mind, although not quite as bad) and finally to the single-track, hour-long metallic drone-piece that fills up the entire last disc. You probably don't want to go through all of this in one sitting, but if you persist you're bound to find something to love as well as something to hate.
