the jesus lizard - show
The Jesus Lizard

I had the great pleasure of seeing Jesus Lizard, one of my very favourite bands, live not long ago. It's about a decade ago since they last played together, but this obviously didn't affect the show they put on, which was fairly fantastic if you ask me. I guess they're splitting up again for good after this short reunion tour they're currently doing, but now that I've experienced David Yow's half-naked body up close (very close, in fact), I can die knowing that I at least got to hear the Jesus Lizard live. This one is a live album they released the same year as Down, which was a fairly substandard album in my opinion coming out hot on the heels of Liar and Goat, in particular (perhaps the most exhilarating rock album ever?). It's a bit rough on the edges (not the best recording to say the least), but the energy is undoubtedly there. And the setlist is fairly excellent. Also note that all their albums (or is it just the first four?) are being reissued both on CD and vinyl next week, all remastered by Steve Albini and Bob Weston over at Electrical Audio and including bonus tracks. Should be fucking awesome, I'll definitely be getting the Head, Goat and Liar vinyls.
