Channeling Jacques Grange

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

This week I've found myself having a mental love affair with the interior design sense of Jacques Grange. Perhaps it is just a longing for Paris in late spring... Or a craving for clean lines...with layered design elements. Maybe it's a romantic notion to get away from it all in a delightfully chic Portuguese cabin in the mountains above the sea. Does it matter? I just want to step into these pictures! Here's to channeling Jacques Grange.

White paint. It can be a designer's best friend. It's functional, elegant and delightfully versatile. Nothing can refresh a space faster than a beautiful coat of white paint. It reflects light and creates a feeling of clean, airy space. White in a living room creates peaceful ambience. You can almost feel a summer breeze looking at these pictures. White paint, it is a quick, inexpensive way to create elegance in any room.

Integrating Nature with Donald Kaufman by Erin Ferucci, Designs 4 Living

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

It's spring and I feel inspired by nature! One of my favorite ways to bring nature into any space is to start with paint. There is no better paint to do this with than Donald Kaufman Paints and I have to tell you his new architectural colors are impeccable! I was in New York on a shopping trip for a client a last fall and couldn't resist. The paint chips alone were $75. Who charges $75 for paint chips? Donald Kaufman does. Why? Because his colors are to die for. Seriously, you can't go wrong. He has the perfect cream, the perfect french blue. He is an amazing colorist with impeccable good taste.

And they are all beautifully inspired by nature. Look at how rich these colors are! The bottom line is that Donald Kaufman Colors are incomparable and there are some very important reasons why. DK colors contain as many as 13 different pigments making them both rich and transparent. The transparency of the paint is what sets them apart from commercial paints. Also DK never adds oxides to their paints, oxides diminish paint's ability to reflect light. So with DK colors you getter a richer tone that reflects light and actually transforms the light in the room.
What is truly amazing is that he draws inspiration for his colors from raw nature,
creating rich, expressive color that is unique and lush. DK colors are more expensive than other paints, but the colors are unsurpassed. For maximum results DK colors suggests painting over white primer, as opposed to neutrals and expect to use 2 to 3 coats in order to achieve the best results.

Spring is Here

By Erin Ferucci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

It's Spring this weekend. It's time to open the curtains, fling back the doors and let the light in! The truth is that when you let the light in sometimes you notice...let's just say...spring cleaning is necessary. House Beautiful ran these pictures in their current issue. I want a door in my office that opens to a sunny garden with the ocean lingering in the distance! But take a look at this office! Time to Spring clean...but not this weekend! This weekend enjoy the light, and the warm air. Next week we can start on spring cleaning.

J. H. Minassian Vintage Inspired Rugs by Erin Ferucci, Designs 4 Living

By Erin Ferucci

Antique Rugs...what can I say...they're beautiful.
But they aren't always practical. If your budget and your lifestyle don't support having an antique rug (let's face it sippy cups with grape juice are not a vintage rugs friend) you can always have an Antique Inspired Rug. They're economical, beautiful and durable. My favorite place to shop for reproductions is J.H. Minassian & Co. They have been in business in Los Angeles since 1905 and they carry both antique rugs and the finest reproductions available. Their shop on Melrose is fabulous and you won't find a more helpful sales force. Look at these rugs, all reproductions. If you are looking for rugs make sure that you visit J.H. Minassian & Co.

Christianne Engs

By Erin Ferruci
Celebrity Lifestyle Designer

After diving into all the latest "new" things and "design trends" in the world of Interior Design...in Los Angeles and around the globe....
It was so refreshing to walk into Engs-Dimitri on La Cienega and view a lovely array of antiquities.

Pictured below are Eastern Mediterranean Pottery Amphorae believed to be from the late 2nd - 1st century B C, recovered by marine archaeology. Wine, olive oil and other foodstuffs were stored and transported in these vessels. Most had two handles, an elongated, globular form body and a pointed base to act as a shock absorber or prevent leaking. The spike could also be pushed into sand ground or placed in a rack.

Imagine the entrance to your villa's garden guarded by... A Set of Four Composition Stone Garden Sphinx, two pairs of opposing neo-classical garden ornaments Italy, circa 1900 Each crouching on a rectangular base with head turned to one side, wearing a saddle, harness and drapery.

Or if you really groove on the truly ancient...This Etruscan Head of a Man is dated 3rd-6th century B C! Made from stone it was probably from a sarcophagus lid.

Or if you prefer Roman artifacts...A marble torso of Cautopates, dated 2nd-3rd century A D.

Or this large Roman marble portrait head of a Roman Senator...Dated 4th-5th century A D, This is believed to be Quintas Aurelius Symmachus a Roman Senator from 383, who died after 402. A fierce upholder of the Roman pagan tradition, he was one of the last men to wear a toga.
All of these treasures are available at Engs-Dimitri Works of Art Antiques located at 740 North La Cienega Boulevard Los Angeles, info@engsdimitri.com http://www.engsdimitri.com/
Richard and Christianne Dimitri are members of Art & Antique Dealers League of America, Inc., C.I.N.O.A. Confederation Internationale des Negociants en Oeuvres d'Art and Accredited Members of the International Society of Appraisers http://www.engsdimitri.com/main.aspJust to see all of their amazing collections of Antiquities was so inspirational... Can you believe seeing pieces from the 1st Century BC and the 1st Century AD?? Amazing!
