Also a re-post, because a) it's really good and more people should hear it and b) the noticed the ID tags were kinda messed up. What I originally wrote about this:
Goes from avant garde cello minimalism to very noisy black metal with what sounds like a mix between Morrissey and the guy from Weakling on vocals. To quote Aquarius Records, they sound like "...a band described as an opera singer, wandering drunkenly down the street, who ducks into a live Karaoke bar, only to discover that the backup band is something like Burzum or Woodtemple, and thus proceeds to CROON maniacally atop their grim fuzzy midtempo buzzing backing, in an ultra dramatic warble that is equal parts Ethel Merman, Devil Doll's Mr. Doctor and Tom Jones??" Again an album that needs to be reissued asap.

Kunsthall
[dark ambient, ambient]
MF (77 MB)
This is technically a re-post. Turns out the version of this album I had up earlier wasn't the proper one. The last track is the same, but it looks like the first two tracks weren't actually even Paysage d'Hiver, even though they sure sound like it. I downloaded the first Urfaust demo (to be posted in a minute), and confusingly found one of the (apparently) incorrect Einsamkeit tracks on it. I'm pretty sure this here is the real album though. This was originally released limited to only 300 copies, but I think Kunsthall are planning on reissuing most of the Paysage d'Hiver stuff, so I hope I'll be able to buy this soon.

video: derek bailey - on the edge, a documentary on improvisation
Really good documentary (or at least parts of it) on improvised music from 1992, written and narrated by Derek Bailey. More info about the documentary here. First two episodes here (thanks to anonymous). All four episodes downloadable here (thanks to sebastianx13). Someone should reissue this on a DVD or something.

Four songs on this EP. Knowing Negură Bunget, you can then expect one or two great songs and at least two pointless two-three minute "mood" tracks. This one has two fairly excellent tracks, but none of them really reach the level of the best stuff on 2006's Om.

New Urfaust EP! It's pretty great. Beautiful guitar work on that second track. Seeing them live soon, and this one's definitely raised my expectations. I know this is almost brand new, but I really want more people to check out this band. Please go buy the vinyl if you like it. And go to their shows.

Early 90s Japanese underground rock, later reissued by PSF. So you should know what to expect. Very dark, quite slow, obviously comparable to Fushitsusha, but not quite as in-your-face.

Actor Jocelyn Quivrin dies
French actor Jocelyn Quivrin, known for films like Lol or 99 francs, died last night in a road accident, local media reported. Quivrin, 30, lost control of his sport car at the tunnel entrance of Saint-Cloud, near Paris, because the road was wet, which resulted in crashed into a concrete ramp and caught fire. Despite his youth, Quivrin had already participated in some thirty films.

Deathprod
6-Track EP

MF (27 MB)
Speaking of Deathprod. This is a vinyl only EP he released a few years ago, limited to 1,000 copies and featuring remixes of tracks by artists such as Nils Petter Molvær and Cloroform. I haven't heard the original tracks, but I imagine they don't really have much in common with these "remixes", which all sound very much like Deathprod. Which of course is a very good thing.

Really good. Deathprod must have been listening to this guy a lot (or vica versa, I guess they started out at around the same time).
